are usually\u00a0benign (non -cancerous) although some can be cancerous or can eventually turn into cancer (precancerous polyps).<\/p><p>They can\u00a0range in size from a few millimetres and can be asymptomatic being detected only on an ultrasound or cause symptoms such as<\/p><ul><li>Irregular menstrual bleeding\u00a0<\/li><li>Bleeding between menstrual periods<\/li><li>Excessively heavy menstrual periods<\/li><li>post-menopausal bleeding\u00a0<\/li><li>Infertility<\/li><li>bleeding after intercourse especially with cervical polyps<\/li><\/ul><p>No cause may be found for\u00a0why some people develop these polyps, but they are\u00a0estrogen- sensitive, meaning they grow in response to estrogen.<\/p><p>Diagnosis can usually be done using the following modalities:<\/p><ul><li>Transvaginal ultrasound<\/li><li>saline\u00a0hysterosonography\u00a0<\/li><li>Hysteroscopy.<\/li><\/ul><p>It is best to remove the polyps especially if you are having any symptoms but also sometimes to rules out that they are not pre-cancerous or cancerous.<\/p><p>Treatment:<\/p><ul><li>wait and watch -small polyps may resolve themselves\u00a0<\/li><li>Surgical removal.
